The Restaurant and the Bar
An exceptional place
Ideally located at the entrance to the Medina, on the corner of Moulay Hassan Square, in an old 18th century dwelling overlooking the sea, Taros, named after this wind that blows from the sea, is one of the emblematic places of the City of Essaouira.
No one would stay in Essaouira without trying a lunch, dinner or a drink on our white and sky-blue terraces, which offer an unrivalled view of the Atlantic Ocean, the port and Moulay Hassan Square.
Indeed, Taros Café-Restaurant is the ideal place to start, continue and finish the day.
It is a combination between a Mediterranean restaurant, a bar and a cocktail bar, with live music and DJ every evening.
All the ingredients needed to make you spend a memorable moment!
Our team, both at the bar and the hall, is there to meet your needs!
Depuis qu’ils sont aux manettes de cette institution Souiri,
Since they started to serve in this Souiri institution, Marie-Christine, Karim and Brahim do all they can to make you live an exceptional moment at Taros.
A talented trio that make Taros Café Restaurant an ever more popular, bold place.
In front of the sea spray, on one of its multiple terraces that offer one of the best views on the bay, you can savour a fresh, tasty cuisine, served all day long, have a drink while admiring the sunset, enjoy its warm atmosphere and, in the evening, enjoy its ultrafestive parties under the stars in a live music atmosphere.
Be comfortably seated on the bench, lounge side, to relax over a drink in a cosy atmosphere, or at the table, terrace side, to have your meal in the sun or in the shade, as you wish, to admire a breathtaking view on the ocean and the harbor, in particular for sunset…
A varied, gourmet cuisine
The menu offers a wide range of dishes, allhome-made with fresh, seasonal products.
People enjoy meeting at Taros to savour a French traditional cuisine, Moroccan specialties, pizzas from the wood oven, seafood and fish.
Every day, suggestions put the spotlight on Essaouira fishing, with fish and seafood depending on availability at the port: à la plancha grilled sardines, swordfish skewers, oven-baked sea beam, john dory fillet or a dozen of sea urchin or oysters…
A contemporary, simplified cuisine dominated by seafood, just like the place, prepared by our chefs and their teams with the best of local, seasonal products.
A wide beverage choice
Taros Café-Restaurant offers you a beverage list up to its reputation, with French and Moroccan pressed or bottled beer, home-made cocktails, with or without alcohol, a large variety of Moroccan wine carefully selected by our cellarman, in perfect harmony with the dishes proposed. And of course, fruit juice and various fresh beverages without alcohol, not to forget our famous menthe tea.
What our customers say about us
“A name to remember”
“We spent 3 days in Essaouira, and chose this place for aperitifs. Right in the city centre, close to souks and the harbor. Private corners, quite sunny terraces overlooking the sea. In short, a cool place to have a meal or a drink. Pressed beer, nice staff, Gnaoua concerts while we were there. A name to remember.”

“A place worth visiting!”
“Super atmosphere with groups coming to liven up the central scene of the bar! Conviviality and setting make you enjoy your drink at the end of the day.”
“A magical place”
“A member of our tour group recommended this restaurant and she was so right! It is on the second (first floor for Europeans) floor of Taros restaurant and next to the harbor. The ambience is wonderful and the host (Daniel) was oh so attentive. We can recommend the cerviche and the tomato tartlet. Daniel’s wine recommendations were spot on. We had a great time and enjoyed the musicians too.”
“A very well sited place. Excellent cuisine. Very pleasant service. Highly recommended.”
